We are lucky to have a variety of mungbeans. This blog is about the green mungbeans. Of course you can eat them after you let them soak overnight. They are a great source of fiber. Those fibers are like brushes that clean your intestines.
But there is also a different way you can use those little beans. And the only thing you need is an old washed sock and of course the beans.
Now, how does this work? Put beans in the sock. Tie a knot in the sock. It’s that simple. Now you are ready for hitting your bones. Say what? Yes!
Your bones are a vast and dense structure through which you can stand firmly on this earth. They keep you grounded so to say. In addition, your bones connect you with your ancestors up to 7 generations back. It’s important to keep those bones firm and clean. And that is where the mungbean sock comes in. You can use this ‘mungbean sock practise’ as prevention, to activate your energy, to detoxify, but you can also use it when you have a sprain for example; the sprain will heal sooner.
Here we go with the sequence. And remember: when you start hitting/ticking, breathe in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. Also: start gently, but you should feel the hits; don’t give yourself bruising though.
First, you are going to awake the chi, the energy, and detoxify. In order to do that:
- you start hitting on your lower abdomen. In Chinese medicine we call this area ‘the tantien’.
- then start hitting on your spine opposite the navel. We call this ‘Mingmen’, or the door of life.
- Next you hit the back of your knee.
- Then the inside of your elbow.
When you’ve done all of this, stop, rest and breathe deeply and slowly.
