Ayurveda has 3 doshas: vata, pitta and kapha. There are many tests on the internet to determine your dosha. Of course you can also pay a visit to an Ayurvedic practitioner. It is important to know about your dosha, because it will tell you about your digestive tract, your nutritional requirements, what happens when you get out of balance and how to regain your balance.
Let’s start by explaining what a dosha is.
- A dosha is a basic force that every person has in a different composition.
- The 3 doshas are 3 fundamental principles that permeate nature and our own human body and thus regulate all physiological processes.
- A dosha describes people in all areas: mentally, physically, the individual constitution, nutritional requirements, preferences and disapproval.
Where is each dosha located?
The doshas are all through your body, but the old Ayurvedic writings also locate the doshas as follows: the vata dosha is below the belly button, the pitta dosha is between heart and belly button and the kapha dosha above the heart.
The vata dosha consists of air and space. The pitta dosha consists of fire and water. The kapha dosha consists of water and earth.
I will elaborate on the individual doshas in later blogs.
So, feel free to come back and learn something that you might find useful for your health.
