Toothpaste Happy Tabs

In my blog on plastics in your bathroom, I already announced that I would review some of the purchased items. I bought the items myself and I do not get paid for the reviews.

In my blog on plastics in your bathroom, I already announced that I would review some of the purchased items. I bought the items myself and I do not get paid for the reviews.

Let’s start today with the Happy Tabs. I had never heard of toothpaste tabs before, but I am always curious, so…In the meantime I found out that other brands also sell tabs.

The Happy Tabs come in two varieties, Fresh Mint with fluorid and Mint Charcoal without. I tested the charcoal ones. They come in glass, so no plastic, which I like. There were 80 tabs in the package.

The user manual said one tab per cleaning session. You chew on the tab, and as soon as you start chewing, it mixes with your saliva and it starts foaming, like toothpaste. So, don’t swallow and then start brushing your teeth with a wet brush. The tabs feel as ordinary toothpaste, although the form and structure is different. It simply feels nice and clean. Personally, one tab per cleaning session is too much, so I only use half every time, which is more than enough for me.

The advantages:

  • No plastic, less waste
  • A reusable glass jar
  • I use half a  tab per cleaning session
  • U are allowed to take the glass jar on trips
  • It is a vegan product
  • It does not contain parabens or other agressive ingredients
  • It is not tested on animals
  • And the makers van Happy Tabs say they donate 5% of the profits to projects like: The Ocean Cleanup and The Healthy Teeth Foundation.

All sounds pretty amazing, right?

The price is 8,95 euro for a glass jar with 80 tabs, which comes down to 0,11 cents per session (or 0,05 cents, when you only use half a tab).

I am sold! This product is here to stay.

Bamboo toothbrush

I bought the bamboo toothbrush, because bamboo is an environmentally friendly product. Whilst using the brush, some of the hairs loosened in my mouth. Maybe it was just this one brush or maybe it is thi batch, but…not to my liking, so I will keep searching for an other alternative.

Bamboo interdental brushes

I bought the interdental brushes and they work fine. However, they don’t have a cap over the brush, so I don’t consider this quite hygienic. Good to use at home, but not to take with you.

HappySoaps Shampoo Bar

In the past I used shampoo bars from a different brand, so this was not totally new to me.

I tested HappySoaps plasticfree and natural shampoo bar, called: in Need of Vitamin Sea. I like the name! There are many different sorts, but this one spoke to me. I also like the scent.

You can use the shampoo bars the same way as ‘normal’ shampoo. There are two ways:

  1. Wet your hair and massage the bar in between your hands until foam comes and start washing.
  2. Or you can apply the bar directly onto your wet hair.
  3. Both ways: rinse thoroughly.

Things I like:

  • The HappySoaps Shampoo Bars have a carton package.
  • They are 100% plastic-free.
  • They last 90-110 washes, which means that you save 3 tot 4 plastic bottles.
  • The bars only consists of natural ingredients.
  • They are palmoil free.
  • They are vegan.

The price of these bars are 8, 75 euro.

Personally I have dry hair that fluffs very quickly, but not with this bar. This item is here to stay too!

Happy Deodorant

I like the fact that it comes in a tin can.

When I opened up the can, I saw a fairly solid substance with a nice smell.

I did not like the fact that I had to put my fingers in to get some of the substance out to put it under my armpit. The substance also feels a bit grainy, where I like soft.

When the temperatures rise, the substance also melts.

YAY or NAY?

Nay, this item is not to stay.

Happy Body Bar

It’s a nice looking and nice smelling bar. It comes in different smells, so there will be something to your liking.

I tested this bar, it kept smelling nice, it did not make my skin more dry as other products and it lasts a long time too!

Conclusion:

  • No plastics in the bar or in the packaging.
  • Nice smell.
  • Lasts a long time.
  • In the end it’s cheaper than those plastic bottles of shower gels.

I think it’s worth your while to test plastic-free stuff until you find something of your liking.

Feel free to write me about your personal findings!
