The biggest addiction

is not alcohol, sigarettes or coke, but sugar.

I know this is a very sensitive topic for many people, but I am gonna say it anyway: you do not have a ‘sweet tooth’, as some people put it mildly, you have an addiction which is very harmful for your health.

Strong language? Yes, strong language! I think it is time to wake up. The food industry puts sugar and salt in our food, our bodies get disregulated/sick because of it and then we fall in the hands of Big Pharma who wants to earn the grand prize from us. It sure is a nasty vicious circle. But if you really love yourself, your body, your life, please stay away from this poison called sugar.

Now why my strong language? What happens in/with your body?

  • It is the biggest cause of obesity. So, quitting sugar consumption might just help you to lose weight.
  • It is the biggest cause of diabetes type 2.
  • Your organs get exhausted.
  • Sugar has a bad effect on your mood. It causes mood swings.
  • Sugar gives inexplicable fatigue.
  • Besides fatigue, it gives stress and depressions.
  • Sugar is bad for the skin, because sugar affects the collegen in the skin and that causes wrinkles due to loss of elasticity. This also happens with the elasticity and functioning of the body tissues.
  • Sugar can cause fatty liver disease. How? The bloodsugar values are too high for a longer period of time and the excess sugars are converted into fats in the liver. These fats end up in the liver cells, resulting in fatty liver disease. A special blog on fatty liver disease will soon follow.
  • Sugar reduces and weakens the digestive fire and can therefore lead to all kinds of digestive problems. Think of Ulcerative Colitis or Crohns disease.
  • Sugar works very inflammatory in every possible way.
  • Sugar can cause intoxication, just like alcohol. By the way, alcohol is a sugar bomb as well.
  • Sugar can suppress your immune system and undermine your defenses against disease.
  • Sugar is a nutrient robber and it unbalances the mineral balance.
  • Sugar can cause a rapid increase in the adrenalin level in your body, resulting in anxiety and concentration disorders.
  • Sugar can significantly increase cholesterol and triglycerides. You don’t want this, because this is the precursor of heart- and coronary diseases.
  • Sugar feeds off of cancercells.
  • Sugar can compromise your eyesight.
  • Sugar can promote the development of immune diseases.
  • Sugar contributes a lot to the proliferation of fungal infections.
  • Sugar can raise your bloodpressure.
  • Sugar can affect the structure of your DNA.
  • Sugar reduces the functioning of your adrenal glands.
  • Sugar can cause your body to retain water/moisture.
  • Sugar consumption can cause headaches and migraines.

So yes, enough reasons to take sugar out of your diet, I suppose. There are the obvious sugar bombs such as cookies, cake, sweets, sugary drinks and alcohol. It will do you a lot of good to opt for healthier alternatives. It is also important to read labels when shopping. A lot of products contain hidden sugar.
