Since this is the ‘detox season’, I would like to present a few herbs you can use to detox. Last year I wrote a blog on detox, so when you’ve read that one (still available in the archives), you’ll know that due to our way of life, our bodies are in need of more detox; not just in spring. Having said that, let’s take a look at the herbs that might help your process of detox.
Coriander
Coriander contains vitamin A, B, C and E and has a lot of iron and magnesium. This herb helps the intestines in their peristalsis (so it helps the intestines to get rid of the waste sooner) en coriander stimulates the production of digestive enzymes.
Milk thistle
Milk thistle has anti-inflammatory and cholesterol-lowering properties. It has a cleaning and protective function on your liver (your detoxfactory), your pancreas, kidneys and brain.
Ginger
Ginger has an anti-inflammatory effect, it helps the digestion process and improves the effect of insulin and insulin sensitivity. Ginger cleanses the lymphatic system.
Dandelion
Dandelion is not some difficult weed, but a medicinal vegetable. It is good for the liver, the digestion and it has a moisture-wicking effect. Lovely to eat a few leaves a day or to drink dandelion tea.
Basil
Basil helps to reverse a fatty liver, it strengthens the immune system, it is anti-inflammatory and can prevent diabetes.
Parsley
Parsley has many health benefits, just like all the herbs mentioned above. In the context of detox, parsley works as a moisture repellent and helps you to rinse your kidneys clean so that the kidneys can remove the waste better.
These herbs can support your body in a valuable way and the idea is to use those herbs even more often in this time of year.
Feel free to let me know in the comment section how you are doing with these herbs.
