Antibiotics

In this time of year when a lot of people get a cold, the flu or even pneumonia, the Dutch government launched a campaign on the use of antibiotics. They let us know that antibiotics don’t work with cold and flu. (Right, because these are viral infections). They warn that you can become resistant with prolonged or incorrect use, such as not completing a course, or using somebody else’s antibiotics (also right). Finally something I can agree with. But…of course there is a but!

What is not mentioned: Big Pharma is the one who earns from it and no alternative is offered either. Before you might think that I am all against antiobiotics, here is a disclaimer: I am not against antibiotics, but only when there is no other choice. And if you do need chemical antibiotics, you can use a natural remedy for support in consultation with your doctor. Also: you need a bowel remediation after a course of antibiotics, but more about that in the January 2020  blogs.

Mother Nature offers natural antibiotics, that don’t have the nasty side effects the chemical ones have. To name a few:

Turmeric, Oregano, Agrimony, Aloe, Arnica, Yarrow, Marigold, Goldenrod, Verbena, East indian cherry, Peppermint, Propolis, Sage, Thyme, Echinacea and onion.

You can take those herbs, those natural antibiotics, in the form of tea (fresh or dried), in the form of tincture, capsules or in ointment/creme. This last possibility works fine too, because your skin is your biggest organ and everything you put on your skin, goes straight into your body.

In the coming year, there will be more blogs on herbs and their applications.
