Winter exercise 2

In our last months blog, we talked about the importance of movement for your heart- and bloodflow, as well as for your lymphatic system.

Movement is also important for building up your ‘physical pension’. Until the age of 60, you are building your physical pension. After 60, you have to keep on moving and not slip, because after 60 you will very easily submit strength and condition. So, if you want to age gracefully and as healthy as possible, start/keep moving!

This month we will describe an inverted pose, which is called the childpose. It is a great pose for wintertime, because it is inverted, it will lead you within and because it is a resting pose. It is also good to do this exercise during the transition from winter to spring, because this pose has detox qualities as well.

Childpose

You sit on your hands and knees and bring your bumbum to/toward your heels. You now will experience a soft stretch in your back. Your big toes will keep touching eachother, the heels point outwardly. Your sit bones will fit right inbetween your heels. Yay, mother nature! Now fold your arms losely around your head. You will feel your flankbreathe against your inner upper legs. Focus on your breathing. Nice and slow breathing. Stay in this pose for as long as you are comfortable. You can practise this pose as many times as you like.

This pose is:

* super calming for the mind

* great for your digestion

* elongating your lower back

* opening up your hips.

Please let us know how this exercise went for you. Can can leave questions and comments under the header ‘welcome’.
